Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira has warned youths against being hired and used by selfish politicians to disrupt peace this electioneering period.
Thuranira states that police will not tolerate goons who are hired by politicians disrupt peace during political campaigns.
The OCPD has also warned political aspirants who perpetuate hooliganism saying that they will be dealt with according to the law.
He stated that a meeting with aspirants eyeing seats in Ruiru will be organised to discuss security.
“We want to have a meeting with all aspirants to chart way forward on security this election period,” he said on Thursday during a briefing with journalists at Ruiru Town.
Thuranira urged political aspirants to spearhead peaceful campaigns.
At the same time, the OCPD urged locals to be vigilant and report criminal activities to the police.
He said that some criminal goons take advantage of the electioneering period to perpetuate crime.
The OCPD added that proper security measures are being formulated to guarantee locals security ahead of the August 8 polls.
