Philip Odero and Joyce Jebet on Saturday won the men and women 10 km races during the Kisumu County Technical Institutions cross country championships.

The races were held at the Dago Kokore Secondary School, in Kisumu West Constituency.

Philip Odero who is a student at the Kisumu National Polytechnic won the senior men’s race after a time of 41 minutes and 56 seconds. 

Alex Maina of Ramogi Institute of Advanced Technology (RIAT) was second in a time of 42 minutes and 52 ahead of college mate Evans Githina who came in third in a time of 43 minutes and 53 seconds.“I prepared well to win this race but I am not happy with my time. My plan was to finish the race in less than 35 minutes,” Philip Odero said after the race.The women’s category was dominated by RIAT students. 23-year-old Joyce Jebet won in a time of 54 minutes and 44 seconds, followed by Antalia Ondiek in a time of 1 hour, 6 minutes and 10 seconds, while Penina Awuor came in third 3 minutes later.The Regional Championships will be held at the Kisumu National Polytechnic on the 27th of this month, with athletes from intuitions in neighboring counties such as Siaya expected to participate.
