Opposition leader Raila Odinga’s political marriage with former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka could after all collapse.
The two have worked together twice despite their past sour relationship and have failed to clinch presidential seat twice in a duration of less than five years.
And the relationship suffered yet another blow on Tuesday when Governor Hassan Joho of Mombasa and Amason Kingi of Kilifi vowed to ensure they are in ballot.
“If Joho is not on ballot be sure that Kingi will go for the presidential seat. That is a reality that you have to live with,” Kingi told ODM supporters in Mombasa.
Ideally, Odinga had promised to opt out of politics after August elections and sources say he had pledged to support Musyoka’s bid as part of NASA MoU.
Another Odinga supporter who is working hard to inherit his support base is Musalia Mudavadi, a man behind NASA coalition that scored fairly well in elections.
In most of his outings, Mudavadi has been moving around with Odinga and is tipped to succeed him when the veteran leader exits politics.
