Opposition leader Raila Odinga remains one of the most popular kingmakers in the nation.
His Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) brags of some of the most vocal leaders, most of whom have remained loyal to him and ideologies.
With a number of them aiming higher in the approaching 2022 general elections, here are some of his allies who are likely to ascend to gubernatorial positions in 2022.
1. James Orengo
The current Siaya Senator will have it easy ascending to the higher post should he decide to go for it come 2022.
Currently held by Cornel Rasanga who is on his second and last term, the Senate Minority Leader will surely replace him, having made a name for himself for his long time loyalty and his successful representation of Raila in his petition against President Uhuru Kenyatta's August 8 reelection.
Orengo also managed to retain his seat in the concluded polls without campaigning at all.
2. Ledama Ole Kina
The vocal Narok Senator has since announced his ambition to replace Samuel Tunai as the county head.
He also constitutes the list of Odinga's closest and most trusted lieutenants and is likely to achieve his dream basing on his vibrance and full participation in Maasai issues, including his recent campaign against deforestation in the Mau Forest.
3. Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir
Not only close to Odinga but to outgoing Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, the Mvita lawmaker is the best placed to take over the coastal county's leadership
His young age and vibrancy is set to further strengthen his bid.
