Ford Kenya Deputy Party leader Boni Khalwale has urged ODM party leader Raila Odinga to shelve his party's 2022 presidential ambitions.
According to the former Kakamega Senator, a deal sealed between ODM, WDM-K, ANC and Ford Kenya which make up the NASA coalition excludes ODM from fielding a presidential candidate in 2022.
Khalwale spoke following Odinga's warning during ODM National Governing Council meeting on Friday, that NASA affiliate parties should not pressure ODM, or else, the party would pull out of NASA and work on its own.
"The NASA coalition agreement expressly excludes ODM from the presidential race, leaving it open only to Ford Kenya, ANC party and Wiper Movement party. Raila Odinga, be a statesman and avoid any push or shove for you to renege on the NASA contract!" Khalwale said on Sunday.
A deal reached between the four parties saw them agree to rally behind Odinga in the 2017 general elections. Raila would then support Musyoka in 2022.
