ODM leader Raila Odinga has launched a scathing attack on Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni over border row between Kenya and Uganda.
For years now, the two countries have been embroiled in strained relationship over the control of Lake Victoria waters.
And in his tour to Busia on Sunday, Odinga accused Ugandan authorities of harassing and intimidating Kenyan fishermen along Port Victoria and Sio Port in Western Kenya.
“Uhuru Kenyatta cannot secure our borders and he can only talk of me as his agenda. I have seen our fishermen struggling with life due to intimidation by Ugandan authorities.
“I want to warn Museveni over these kinds of unfriendly acts. Kenyans must be respected and whenever there is a problem in Lake Victoria, we should sit down and iron it out,” said Odinga.
On record, Odinga and Museveni have never been in good terms and the Ugandan leader is said to have backed Kenyatta’s election in 2013.
In 2011 when Odinga served as Prime Minister, Uganda and Kenya’s diplomatic relations almost collapsed over the ownership of Migingo Island.
