Addressing his supporters earlier today in Nairobi, NASA principal, Raila Odinga, has decried and condemned what he called ''the militarisation of politics''.
Donning an orange shirt and clasping a fly whisk in his hand, Mr. Odinga railed against the use of excessive force by police on NASA protesters.
''We want to condemn the militarisation of politics in our country. We are continuing to see increasingly members in military uniform, police officers in combat gear combing our towns, our villages... shooting aimlessly at our people. This shows to what levels this regime has descended. This regime has reached a level which is completely intolerable. Politics must be played by politicians.'' A visibly outraged Odinga said.
Odinga's angry words come in the context of a deepening political crisis that threatens to push Kenya to the brink of civil strife.
Confrontations between supporters of the two opposing have been widely reported in the media.
Police have been singled out for condemnation by opposition politicians for allegedly employing disproportionate force in their attempt to quell protests in different parts of the country.
