ODM leader Raila Odinga has yet again come to the defense of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, who has been a target of Jubilee administration under the leadership of Uhuru Kenyatta.

Considered as a fierce critic of Uhuru and William Ruto, Joho has often found himself on the receiving end, with the president leading onslaught of his administration.

But in Nairobi on Tuesday, Odinga accused President Uhuru of ‘unfairly’ targeting Joho adding that the insults were targeting him as a person.

“He goes around calling Joho unlearned and to be honest, abusing Joho is simply abusing me. I will not let them intimidate him the way they want.

“Better that unlearned focused man that a drunken fellow who does not understand leadership. We shall not stop criticizing and certainly, we shall beat them,” a visibly agitated Odinga said.

Besides being barred from attending presidential functions at the coast, Joho also had his security withdrawn several times after having an altercation with Kenyatta.

At Mombasa early this week, Kenyatta and Ruto challenged Joho to go ‘back’ to school, after questioning his academic record.
