Opposition leader Raila Odinga presided over the ‘finest’ Saba Saba Day in his life after thousands of Kenyans gathered to commemorate the day that marked the born of multiparty democracy in Kenya.

In the historic Kamukunji grounds, thousands of Kenyans gathered to honour victims of the fight for pluralism, some of whom who have died.

And during the rally, Odinga said the Friday’s event marked the new dawn of the third liberation which he says would rescue Kenyans from hunger and maladministration.

“This is historical because I have never seen such number of people. We have held rallies in Kamukunji but this is interesting,” he said.

Odinga added:”This now marks the third and final liberation for this nation. I am so grateful that you have come in such a large number.”

In July 7th 1990, thousands of Kenyans engaged police in running battles in what turned out to be the darkest moment in the Kenyan history.

Two years later, Odinga and some of his fellow freedom fighters were released from prison and participated in the first multiparty elections in Kenya.
