Kenya's opposition leader, Raila Odinga, sent signals a few days ago that the window for dialogue between President Uhuru Kenyatta and himself had closed.
In an interview with Aljazeera earlier today at his home, the former premier appeared to backpedal on that position.
''We are not unwilling to talk. But that agenda would still be the same agenda... How to create a level playing field so that elections can be held in the next 90 days.'' Odinga said.
Kenyans wary of the unfolding political crisis, deepening by the day, have pinned their hopes for a peaceful resolution of the crisis on the prospect of dialogue between President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
Odinga opening himself up to the possibility of dialogue will make many Kenyans breathe a little easy.
The growing tensions in the country has led religious and business groups to urge the opposing sides to engage in dialogue to prevent Kenya from unravelling further.
