Addressing issues of critical significance at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, opposition leader Raila Odinga also managed to make his listeners laugh, a feat that demonstrated his credentials as a comedian.
In a bid to demonstrate that the October 26 rerun was a charade, Odinga said that he was able to beat six other candidates yet he was not a candidate.
''I was not on the ballot yet I still beat the other candidates even though I was not a candidate. Kenyatta was basically running against Uhuru. Then after Uhuru had beaten Kenyatta, it became Uhuru vs the turnout. ,'' he said, plunging the auditorium into an outburst of laughter.
Answering a question about the need for reforms, Odinga made a comparison between the police in Tanzania and Kenya to great comical effect.
''In Tanzania, if you ask the police for direction, they will salute you and then show you the direction. But here in Kenya, if you ask about directions, the police will demand your ID. If you don't have an ID, you will be taken in and be charged with loitering with the intention of committing a felony.'' He joked
