NASA leader Raila Odinga has defended his alliance's call for continuation of anti-IEBC demonstrations despite officially withdrawing from the presidential race.
In an interview on Radio Jambo Wednesday, Odinga who on Tuesday pulled out of the race pitting him against President Uhuru Kenyatta, lamenting over the lack of transparency in the election preparations, maintained that the demonstrations will go ahead as scheduled.
He said that despite his absence in the elections, future leaders and aspirants must be assured of a fair and transparent process.
He also said that the protests are a demonstration that majority of Kenyans are not happy with the electoral preparedness and recent unfolding including election laws amendments initiated by the Jubilee side.
''The demonstrations are a show of the frustration among the people, its a show of their dissatisfaction with the current and we don't plan to call them off any time soon,'' said the former Premier.
He as well defended his withdrawal from the race saying that it was the best remedy to the IEBC's hard stand.
''This is democratic nation and the democracy must be upheld and that is the reason why we decided to use legal ways to withdraw our candidature. There is no need to go into this when we already know the outcome,'' said Raila.
