ODM leader Raila Odinga has questioned the motive of Western powers to push him towards participating October 26th elections despite IEBC dragging to proposed reforms.
Through Ambassador Robert Godec, President Donald Trump warned of dire consequences among them imposing travel bans to leaders sabotaging IEBC.
And at Okoa Kenya on Tuesday, Odinga ruled out the idea of taking part in polls despite America’s shuttle diplomacy to salvage the quagmire.
“Over years we have pushed for reforms with our partners from West taking part. They are now telling us to participate in an election that is opaque.
“We gave conditions that were even highlighted by the observers and other envoys. There is no way we can take part in a fraud despite their demand,” said Odinga.
Last week, Trump’s representative Godec, is said to have sought Odinga’s audience but all in vain, with sources claiming that the veteran leader believes the West is imposing Uhuru Kenyatta.
His latest move could further raise level of uncertainty with the previous Supreme Court rulings indicating a possibility of a fresh election in three months’ time.
