ODM party leader Raila Odinga is yet again facing another major test in Gusii land as two allies set to battle out in Women Representative race.Odinga is keen to keep his allies in a region that his opponent, Jubilee party, is keen to capture after losing to him in 2013.

On Tuesday, Senator Janet Ong’era, formerly ODM Chief Executive, joined Women Representative race currently held by Mary Otara of ODM.

“I am happy to announce to all ODM supporters that I will be battling for Women Representative seat,” she told her supporters on Tuesday, flanked by Governor James Ongwae.

Recently, Otara dismissed Ong’era’s interest claiming that she was an outsider and vowed to fight her in a fierce political campaign.

“Some of these opponents fighting me should go and contest in Homa Bay. I must be respected within ODM and that remains so,” she said.

Understandably, the two leaders submitted their nomination papers a month ago and could face each other in party primaries.

In his Monday tour to Kisii, Odinga urged aspirants to conduct peaceful campaigns and promised a fair nomination.
