The August 8 polls presented an opportunity for Kenya's political dynasties to cement their grip on the over half a century old nation.
With the Kenyatta, Moi and Odinga families being the notable political dynasties that have shaped the country's political landscape over years, it was the latter that emerged as the biggest casualty after the August 8 elections.
The Odinga family has been dominant political force in Luo Nyanza for over 50 years. However, they are now finding themselves in uncharted territory after miscalculating their political moves in the run to the August 8 polls.
Raila Odinga 'lost' in his bid to be the country's President. However, he has challenged President Kenyatta's win in the Supreme Court. Should the court dismiss his petition, then his political career will hang on the balance as age is starting to catch up with him.
Dr. Oburu Oginga, Raila's elder brother lost in his bid for the Bondo MP seat, the veteran politician losing to Gideon Ochanda during the ODM nominations.
Former Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga did not vie for any political seat as she focused on campaigning for his brother, Raila.
In Nairobi, Raila's daughter Rosemary Odinga shelved her ambitions for Kibra MP on health grounds. She had been admitted to a South African hospital.
Elsewhere, in Gem, the Odingas cousin Jakoyo Midiwo failed to defend his seat after losing to his longtime nemesis Elisha Odhiambo.
Midiwo was vying as an independent candidate.
Following the outcome of the poll, it will be the first time in over two decades that a member of the Odinga family will not be in Parliament.
