Opposition leader Raila Odinga has responded to two NASA coalition principals - Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) after they led a scathing attack against him, accusing him of betraying them and the entire Luhya community.
This followed a truce meeting between Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta on March 9, which has caused a wide rift in the coalition.
Addressing supporters on Saturday when they (Mudavadi and Wetangula) toured several areas in Vihiga county, ANC's political support base, the duo said they regretted supporting Odinga, who they had entrusted to help uplift lives of the Luhya community.
Wetangula said they had supported Odinga only for him to turn his back on them.
"Mudavadi has spent 10 years supporting Raila. I equally supported Raila in 2013 and 2017," said the Bungoma Senator.
He expressed disappointment that Odinga used and dumped them, with the two calling for unity of the Luhya community.
The two also demanded that it was time for Raila to support them.
“The majority cannot continue to be subordinate to the minority. We sacrificed for Raila. It is time he reciprocates," Wetangula said when they made stopovers at Majengo, Mbale and Chavakali in Vihiga County.
However, Odinga responded on Sunday, saying "They're saying Raila has abandoned us in NASA and joined Jubilee.. it is not about NASA or Jubilee.. it is about the people of Kenya" amid cheers from the congregation.
Odinga was speaking during a Church service at CITAM Rongai, where he participated in a special dedicatory service.
He said anyone was entitled to their own interpretation of his MoU with Kenyatta and that he himself knows it would unite and benefit the country.
"Everyone is entitled to their own interpretation of the MoU. It is time we unite the country," he said.
Odinga further called on leaders across the divide to rally behind his agreement with Uhuru.
