NASA coalition government will put policies in place to ensure better remunerations and working conditions of workers in horticulture firms in Naivasha, opposition leader Raila Odinga has said.

In a move aimed at curbing alleged neocolonialism in the firms largely owned by settlers, Odinga said he will evoke Labour Acts to ensure their rights are properly adhered to.

“I am quite aware the disturbing experiences you face daily. Poor remuneration and extreme poor working conditions subjected by neocolonialists,” he said on Wednesday during a rally at Naivasha.

Odinga further said: “I will ensure the law is properly followed for the sake of human rights. We must work smart by ensuring everyone works in a good atmosphere.”

During the trip, Odinga poked hole into President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to divert the SGR project to Naivasha, contrary to an initial plan set by the grand coalition government.

“SGR is only favourable where we have a port, huge land and airport and which not the case in Naivasha is. Uhuru diverted it to his private land for personal gains,” he said.
