Former Bondo MP Oburu Odinga has written to Speaker Justin Muturi, applying to be considered for East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) nomination.
Oburu, a brother to NASA chief Raila Odinga is among former members of the August House who have picked nomination papers from the office of the Clerk of the house Michael Sialai for this lucrative chase.
Also on the line include Jubilee stalwarts Moses ole Sakuda (Kajiado West), Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), Abdi Saney (Wajir North) and Zipporah Kering (Nandi Woman Rep).
Others include Simon Mbugua (Kamukunji), Danson Mungatana (Garsen) and Kalembe Ndile (Kibwezi).
Ex-Vihiga County Women Representative Dorcas Kedogo has expressed interest in the post on Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Two sitting NASA MPs; Nzengu Musyimi (Mwingi North) and Elsie Muhanda (Kakamega Woman Rep) have also applied for the EALA posts.
If their application gets a nod, they will be forced to resign thus leading to by-elections in their respective constituencies.
Earlier in May, several candidates were interviewed, before differences emerged between Jubilee and Opposition lawmakers over the list.
The differences led to delays and eventual cancellation of the whole process.
Jubilee had interviewed former Interior Principal Secretary Mutea Iringo, former Kamukunji MP Simon Mbugua and his Mandera North counterpart Mohammed Adan.
NASA had settled on Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s son Kennedy Kalonzo, Ronald Ngeny, Abubakar Zein and ODM elections board boss Judith Pareno who is now a nominated Senator.
