Barely a day after formal withdrawal from presidential race, Raila Odinga’s decision has been labeled as ‘courageous’ by Nyamira governor John Nyagarama.
Despite his decision though, IEBC has maintained that all candidates who took part in August polls will be included in August 26th elections.
And Nyagarama now says the move will help bring sanity within Kenya’s electoral systems adding that the move was long overdue.
“He has followed the law to withdraw and I don’t know why they are forcing him to participate,” he said, claiming that IEBC and Jubilee party are working to sabotage reforms.
The ODM governor added: “As a county, we shall ensure no elections take place and that is our stand. We are tired with the perennial rigging.”
Although the region has been considered an opposition stronghold, IEBC records show that Uhuru Kenyatta best Odinga having garnered 52 percent.
His irreconcilable differences with Uhuru resurfaced when Uhuru vowed to ensure a governorship petition against him sails through in Nyamira High Court.
