Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has been tasked to ensure all hospitalized people are provided with means of transport during voting in August.

The move aims at improving voter turnout in Nyamira County, a region perceived to be an opposition stronghold.

Speaking at Kebirigo on Sunday, ODM leader Raila Odinga said the same directive will be replicated across the country in NASA strongholds.

“Some people have been claiming that their regions are good in voting. We want to tell them that this time things will be different.

“I have instructed Nyagarama to ensure all sick people are provided with means of transport to vote. We shall ensure our voter turnout is impressive,” Odinga said.

IEBC figures show that Odinga’s strongholds recorded a poor turnout in 2013 leading to his loss to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He said similar approaches will be replicated across the country where agents will be required to ensure people vote in elections.
