Kenyan opposition Chief Raila Odinga becomes one of the few high profile leaders to shower former Cuban President Fidel Castro following his demise on Saturday.
The revolutionary leader went to historical books for defying the powerful nation on earth, US, and he is believed to have survived over 600 assassination attempts by the deadly CIA squad.
On Saturday, Odinga, a victim of brutal KANU regime hailed the contributions by the communist leader by terming him a true friend to African countries.
“Let me take this chance to condole with the family of Fidel Castro. He was a true friend to African given his enormous contributions towards achievement of independence in several states,” he said.
“I particularly remember a role he played in liberating Republic of South Africa. He sent his people to provide humanitarian help and even gave his troops to defend African against occupants,” he added.
Odinga’s father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga was a friend of Cuban government for many years and his son, Raila Odinga, named one of his sons after the Cuban leader.
