Jubilee major loss in two mini polls at moderate Gusii region should worry Deputy President William Ruto, says veteran politician Abuya Abuya.
Ruto is keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 should he win a presidnetial petition challenging his victory in Supreme Court.
"The mini polls are indications that Gusii region, despite being in NASA, may not consider William Ruto in 2022,'" he says.
In Kitutu Chache South, Jubilee candidate Antony Kibagendi lost to Ford Kenya's Richard Onyonka who garnered 10, 122 votes while at Bogichora Ward in Nyamira, Jubilee candidate Charles Onchiri managed 419 votes to ODM George Abuga who scored 3500 votes.
Apparently, Ruto had deployed a strong team led by Fred Matiang'i, Millicent Omanga and Walter Nyambati in both regions to put a spirited campaigns.
"Those who were campaigning for Jubilee are close friends of Ruto. His persistent jibes against Odinga will cost him dearly," he says.
He further adds: "For him to win, he must look for mechanisms of reconciling with NASA supporters. That was a punishment on him and he should rethink."
Most NASA politicians including Odinga, have always had a soft spot of President Uhuru Kenyatta than DP William Ruto.
