National Super Alliance leader Raila Odinga will tour Kisii on Wednesday just barely a week after Deputy President William Ruto rallied locals to support Jubilee administration.
The region which is predominantly inhibited by Abagusii community and that overwhelmingly supported Odinga’s bid in 2013, has been earmarked as tossup by Jubilee strategists.
In a move seen as a strategic reconciliation rally after ODM elections, Odinga is also set to formally endorse Governor James Ongwae’s reelection bid.
“On Wednesday we shall be hosting ODM party leader and our presidential flag bearer at Gusii stadium,” said Caleb Simba, a communication officer in Ongwae’s office.
He added: “we urge all ODM and NASA supporters to come in numbers and seal this occasion. We are confident of a victory.”
During his tour, Ruto issued nomination certificates to Jubilee winners in Nyamira and Kisii Counties in rallies that were organized by Jubilee aspirants.
Since 2013, both President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mr. Odinga have toured the region in a number of times with Odinga’s latest tour being early April this year.
