US ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec may have indirectly contributed to the current political impasse in the country, says opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Without directly mentioning him, Odinga said part of Western envoys have been part to Kenyan problem, adding that they are unable to solve what they have instigated.

”I have come to Washington to convey a simple message we need a much fuller engagement from many arms of governance that your country possess to assist your envoys in Nairobi.

”The envoys efforts up to now have not succeeded in defusing the crisis, but let me be blunt again, they have sometimes contributed to the problem,” he said in reference to Godec.

Odinga was addressing the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in the Washington DC at the invitation of former US envoy to Kenya Johnnie Curson.

On envoys contribution to the crisis, Odinga accused Godec and the team for allegedly endorsing October 26th polls even after IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati admitted inability to conduct fair polls.

“They endorsed a sham election even after two commissioners said they were unable to conduct free and fair poll. That is the crisis we are talking about.”

Prior to the elections, Godec is on record for pressuring Odinga to take part in the elections even after his withdrawal.
