ODM leader Raila Odinga says he will beat Jubilee government in Rift Valley, a region perceived to be President Uhuru Kenyatta’s stronghold.

Despite voting for him in 2007, Odinga performed dismally in 2013 after parting with Deputy President William Ruto, an indisputable political kingpin in the region.

But in his spirited campaigns to reclaim the region, Odinga maintained on Thursday that the region had shifted its political inclination to his favour.

“I am sure that Rift Valley is in NASA and that will be confirmed in August. People are tired with Jubilee and they want a change,” he said during his Baringo tour.

He added: “They have failed to deliver and you can see how food prices are skyrocketing. This is the time for change and it has started in Rift Valley.”

An opinion poll by the Star newspaper last week indicated that the opposition team is gaining ground in the vote rich region, a stronghold of DP Ruto.

In his campaigns, Odinga is banking of Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto, Emurua Dikir MP Johanna Ng’eno and Narok West MP Patrick Ntutu to deliver for him.
