Mary Otara says she has been unable to fulfill her expectations as Kisii County Women Representative due to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ‘hunger’ for money.

Otara, who was elected on an ODM ticket, has since joined Jubilee Party where she will face other competitors among them Brigit Ombati in Jubilee primaries.

In yet again another unprecedented jibe on Mr. Odinga, Otara claims that she has been remitting Sh100, 000 monthly to the Orange party.

“The Women representative seat was quite new to us and we started it from scratch. It will be unfair to judge us based on our first few years in office,” said Otara on Saturday at a function in Nyaribari.

She further said: “To make matters worse, I was elected on the Luo party ticket (ODM). Instead of earning salary to use it for development, the Luo (Raila Odinga) asks for Sh100, 000 per month because I used his party to parliament.”

Prior to her defection to Jubilee, Ms. Otara had accused Senator Janet Ong’era, who has since been cleared by Orange party to face her, of sabotaging her within the party.

Despite being an affirmative seat, all Women Representatives have been receiving National Government Affirmative Action kitty since 2016.
