Deputy President William Ruto has taken a swipe at former Prime Minister Raila Odinga by labeling him a ‘proven’ dictator.
Ruto, an Odinga ally cum foe, was traversing in the vast Western region along with President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday.
“That man full of Vitendawili (riddles) is a proven dictator. He will not make any progress in Kenya,” Ruto said in reference to Odinga’s usual political language that is full of allegories.
He added: “I served under him and he sacked me just because we couldn’t agree with certain issues. He always wants his side of argument to prevail and that is why he is troubling us.”
Prior to 2013 elections, Odinga then serving as Prime Minister sacked Ruto who was serving as Higher Education Minister.
In 2007, Ruto helped Odinga scoop millions of votes from Rift Valley region in which he subsequently lost in 2013 after their fallout.
And Ruto, who has since backed Kenyatta’s reelection said he will ensure Jubilee government is reelected in August.
“I am sure you cannot allow those people without any proven record. Let support Jubilee because the country is greatly transforming,” he said.
