Deputy President William Ruto has ruled out political enmity between him and opposition leader Raila Odinga adding that they share a lot in common.
Before their acrimonious fallout in 2012, the two leaders worked together for a couple of years with Ruto helping Odinga to garner votes from Rift Valley region.
And on Wednesday when he made his return to Luo Nyanza, Ruto said he still cherishes the former PM as his political mentor.
“If there is someone who has worked and delivered for Agwambo (Raila) then it should be me. I walked with him when he needed someone,” said Ruto.
He added: “He is my political mentor and we do consult at times despite working differently. It should be known that we are not enemies as some people say.”
Hostile Odinga supporters heckled the DP at Kisumu making him to cut short his speech in front of his boss Uhuru Kenyatta.
During the grand coalition government, Odinga appointed Ruto as Minister for Agriculture before moving him to Higher Education.
