Gem Member of Parliament Jakoyo Midiwo has dismissed claims made by his cousin, Oburu Odinga (nominated), that he took care of him.
Oburu, who is demanding respect from Midiwo, told a rally on Tuesday that he brought up the Gem legislator after his parents died.
“He (Midiwo) grew up in my house,” said Oburu.
In a quick rejoinder, the National Assembly deputy minority leader said Oburu was only trying to seek “cheap political mileage”.
Midiwo explained that the late Odinga’s father, Oginga Odinga, took him to Oburu’s house in order protect his property.
“After writing my form six exam, Jaramogi took me to Oburu’s house to secure his property,” Midiwo said on Thursday as quoted by the Star.
“This is after a house help who had not been paid for many months stole some things,” he added.
Midiwo added that he later moved to his own house in Kibera, Nairobi, after Oburu returned.
“How can that amount to taking care of me? Let Oburu tell the public the truth,” he said.
