Opposition leader Raila Odinga has denied involvement of his father in his prosperous political career that has seen him lead rebellion again establishments in the country for decades.
Just like his father Jaramogi Oginga, Mr Odinga is arguably one of the most spoken politicians in Africa and around the world.
But on Monday evening, Odinga termed claims that his father brought him to politics as ‘fallacious’ and ‘imagery’ instead crediting his hard work.
“It is untrue to say that I am riding at the back of my father. When he was leading the people of Bondo, I was representing the people of Lang’ata in Nairobi.
“I went through detentions and fought for my political space. My constituents believed in my ideals and fought with me all the time. It is basically my hard work,” he said.
When the old Odinga was leading pluralism crusades across the country, his son, Raila Odinga, was among the notable characters in the opposition campaigns.
He was first elected to parliament in 1992 on his father’s Ford Kenya before resigning in 1995 to join NDP where he was yet again elected to represent Lang’ata constituency.
