Opposition leader Raila Odinga maintains that Nairobi County is solidly in NASA and that Jubilee will lose significant number of seats in August.

Both Jubilee and NASA teams are keen to win a number of elective seats that will be at disposal on August.

Although the cosmopolitan region could go either side, Odinga has dismissed DP William Ruto’s ability to marshal votes from the region.

“Yeye ni jogoo wa shamba na hawezi wika mjini,” said Odinga on Friday during a leaders meeting in Nairobi chaired by Governor Evans Kidero.

It loosely translates to: “He is a local cockerel who cannot influence elections in the city.”

Odinga added: “Nairobi remains a NASA zone and that is what we should expect after August. We are going to deliver more seats.”

With both sides keen to win in the capital, the governorship post seems to be at the center of rivalry between the two major parties.

Governor Kidero is set to face youth senator Mike Mbuvi who won Jubilee nominations by trouncing former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth.
