The decision by Raila Odinga to reportedly turn down an ‘offer’ to take oath in a parallel function to that of President Uhuru Kenyatta has provoked many opposition supporters.
An article by the Sunday Nation, which has since been dismissed by quarters within the Orange House insiders, indicated that Odinga had strongly declined a parallel swearing-in ceremony.
“He has international reputation to keep and as well as obeying the constitution which he fought for. He declined to be sworn as President,” a source told the Nation.
Contrary to the reports, NASA leader Musalia Mudavadi had insisted that the coalition will only recognize Odinga as the duly elected president.
But on Social media, a section of disgruntled ODM supporters accused Odinga of being ‘too lenient’ to Jubilee administration.
“He is about to betray us after many of us making sacrifices. We won’t accept his new excuse,” said Ndege Sirkal, a Persona Assistant to Babu Owino on his Facebook page.
Lawyer Miguna Miguna wrote: “Power is taken and not given. Raila Odinga is making yet again another blunder.”
The veteran leader is under pressure to take oath of office on grounds that he won August elections which the opposition accuses Jubilee of rigging.
