Businesses came into standstill in Kisii town on Monday when opposition leader Raila Odinga made entry into Gusii stadium.
It was Odinga’s third record visit to the region in a span of two weeks, a move aimed at thwarting growing influence of Jubilee government in the region.
In 2013, the opposition leader scored overwhelmingly from both Nyamira and Kisii counties by managing to get slightly over 75 percent of cast votes.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto are also keen to bag over 700,000 votes at stake in the region and have made several combined trips to the region.
“I have come here and will continue coming. I know the pivotal role you will play in determining the winner. As opposition, we need to walk in the same path,” Odinga said.
He received immediate former Kenyan ambassador to UN Habitat Sam Ongeri who ditched President Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp.
“Kenyans are losing patience with this regime. I know in August you will do the most honest thing of sending Jubilee home,” he said.
