Despite hinting a possibility of pushing for secession, opposition leader Raila Odinga may have dropped the option which has widely been discussed by lead political commenters.

At an interview with America’s CNN, Odinga said he was keen to cause civil disorder and quest for self – determination should Jubilee administration fail to agree on conducting of fresh polls.

“We have many constitutional mechanisms we can use to demand for justice. We shall cause civil disorder or even self – determination if they can respect the law,” he said.

But at a rally in Nairobi’s Kawangware suburbs, Odinga seemed disinterested with splitting of the country adding that he was keen to have issues solved under a united Kenya.

His sentiments came after a section of Jubilee leaders led by DP William Ruto accused him of planning violence to destabilize the country.

“Our country is divided and some people want us to secede but I do not see any need. Let us solve those issues in a united Kenya,” he said.

Should he have chosen secession, Kenya would have been the third country to pursue that option this year after Catalonia and Ambazonia.

The opposition leader withdrew from the October’s presidential repeat poll over ‘lack’ of reforms in the electoral body IEBC.
