Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga has opted out of the Kisumu gubernatorial race.

The Raila Odinga younger sister failed to submit the Sh250,000 mandatory payment for female aspirants targetting the position in ODM party.

“I am not vying for governor and that can be confirmed from ODM party because I did not pay the nomination fees,” she said.

According to a survey conducted by Infotrak on Friday, most Kisumu County voters showed they would re-elect incumbent Jack Ranguma.

The poll, which was conducted between March 31 and April 2, had placed Odinga in fourth position with a paltry 0.3 per cent.

This fraction of respondents said that they would vote her because of her integrity.

However, Odinga later wondered why the pollster surveyed her, yet she was “not even a paid up aspirant with the party.”

“This means the polls cannot be trusted at all because it left out paid up members but went ahead to rank people who are not even in the race,” she argued.

She added that she would choose to be a running mate to an aspirant having a good manifesto.
