ODM leader Raila Odinga promised to support ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi for National Super Alliance ticket towards the end of last year, a close ally of Mudavadi has claimed.
With the opposition still yet to name its presidential flag bearer, the four principals led by Mr. Odinga are set to convene in Mombasa from Monday to discuss a report by the select committee.
But Mr. Godfrey Kanoti says Mr. Odinga had promised to back Mudavadi last year in an arrangement that could see Kalonzo Musyoka deputizing Mudavadi and Odinga taking the slot of Prime Minister.
“This was the gentleman agreement that was struck last year and we expect it to be honored by Mr. Odinga,” Kanoti said.
He added: “I am aware of the agreement by the virtue of my position. They agreed and we expect nothing less than that.”
Recently, a section of ANC supporters took to the streets of Kakamega dismissing a leaked report that had proposed a Chief Ministerial position for August polls.
In his remarks this week, Mr. Odinga dismissed claims that the coalition had settled on a flag bearer but promised to reveal the lineup the soonest they agree.
