Veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga revealed the set of options that NASA weighed after the disputed August 8 elections.
Speaking in London to Kenyans in the United Kingdom, Mr Odinga said that the opposition had three options:
1. Call for dialogue with Jubilee on electoral reforms
2. To bring about a popular change using Article 1 of the constitution.
3. Mass action
''We had three viable options that we could follow. Option one: To come up, get the other side to agree to a dialogue so that we can be able to make the changes that are required before an election can be held. Option number two: To bring about a popular change in other words in using Article one of our constitution which is direct democracy. Get the people to make resolutions and force those changes through parliament. The third option is mass action. Get people on the streets and keep there until the government surrenders or calms down,'' Raila said.
Odinga's words are seen as an attempt to placate members of the Kenyan diaspora who are critical of his dramatic handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
