ODM leader Raila Odinga will on Thursday fly to South Africa to visit his ailing daughter, Rosemary Odinga.
Prior to his planned mid-day flight, Odinga, who is also official opposition leader, will be a keynote speaker in the ongoing Annual Devolution Conference in Naivasha.
Rosemary, the second born to the Odinga family, was flown to a South Africa hospital after being diagnosed with brain tumour.
A statement from spokesperson Dennis Onyango, however, did not reveal the number of days he will spend in the South African nation.
“Rt. Hon Odinga will today deliver a keynote speech in Naivasha on the ongoing Devolution Conference. He will late on visit Rosemary in South Africa,” read the statement.
Understandably, Ms. Odinga has already declared her interest for Kibra constituency seat, currently held by Mr. Ken Okoth.
And this week, lawyer Paul Mwangi, acting on behalf of Mr. Odinga, sued a local newspaper for allegedly running a history on ‘Raila’s fear for the ailing daughter’.
Should Rosemary make it to parliament, she would join a long list of Odinga’s, among them Ruth Odinga, Oburu Oginga and Grandfather Oginga Odinga, who have prospered in Kenyan politics.
