A week after former ODM Nyamira branch chairman James Gesami joined rival Jubilee, opposition leader Raila Odinga has yet again suffered a huge setback following a series of defections lined on Thursday.
Jubilee strategists had earmarked Gusii region as tossup, despite being predominantly an opposition stronghold, a move that worked to some extent on August.
Ex – West Mugirango MP and a long time High Court judge Anasi Onyancha is among those expected to be received by Uhuru Kenyatta in his Gusii tour later on Thursday.
“We shall always go for them because as a party, we have to be full. We shall reach for more to join us,” said Walter Nyambati, who is chief Jubilee presidential campaign coordinator.
He added:”NASA is completely done and we shall defeat them once again in Nyamira to confirm that we never rigged.”
While Anasi contested for Nyamira governorship unsuccessfully on Wiper, Gesami lost as an independent. They were however close associates of Raila Odinga.
Also lined up for defection are a number of MCA losers in August polls from NASA coalition and a host of ODM grassroots leaders.
