Ogembo Township played host to confrontation between Raila Odinga’s supporters and those allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday evening.

Having been earmarked as a tossup by Jubilee strategists, both political sides are rushing in such for over 800, 000 votes in both Kisii and Nyamira Counties.

And Jubilee caravan under the stewardship of Senator Chris Obure faced torrid moments to convince Ogembo residents amid heckling by alleged NASA supporters.

Trouble started when Obure discredited Odinga and Governor James Ongwae’s record who he labeled as ‘non-perfumers’.

But in a quick rejoinder, NASA supporters disrupted the roadside rally as the confrontation degenerated to ugly scenes.

Youths chanting anti-Jubilee slogans literally colonized the place by successfully flushing Jubilee campaign team which fled for safety.

Although such political rivalry is synonymous in the region, none of such cases had degenerated to a point of hurling stones to rival camps.

The skirmishes also manifested an impending rivalry between Governor Ongwae and Obure, both who are seeking governorship position in August elections.
