National Super Alliance flag bearer Raila Odinga has promised a major overhaul in the police service to ensure they ‘serve’ people as outlined in the law.

During his time as Prime Minister, Odinga had initiated Police Reforms which led to vetting of senior officers and subsequent dismissal of those found unfit to serve.

“Police should serve people fairly and without using force. I will ensure that the NASA government prioritizes police reforms as enshrined in the law,” he said.

Odinga was addressing thousands of his supporters who had gathered at Jacaranda grounds in Nairobi after he had presented his nomination papers to electoral body IEBC.

And in what he referred to as massive corruption in the National Police Service, Odinga said his government will restore order in the security sector which is usually ranked as the most corrupt.

“We want a Kenya where citizens will not be told to ‘Toa Kitu Kidogo’ when asking for services. Police are paid using tax payers and their duty is to serve us without discrimination,” he said.

The ‘TKK’ is synonymous among the police officers ad is a term used to refer to a bribe within cycles of men in uniform.
