Opposition leader Raila Odinga would be unveiled as the National super Alliance flag bearer should his co-principals adopt the technical committee’s report after a retreat scheduled Monday.
Multiple sources within the opposition had indicated that Odinga was the most preferred candidate given his wide acceptance across the country.
Although details of the report remain scanty, an MP who sat in the coordinating committee revealed that the final details are likely to remain intact.
“We settled on Odinga given his wide political network. He has also existing structures within the ODM party that would help us campaign,” said the MP who spoke in confidence.
“We shall create a position of Chief Minister who will be in charge of government business,” said the vocal MP, adding that Kalonzo Musyoka would be ideal as running mate.
On Sunday, Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula also revealed that they will reveal their candidate after the retreat that will commence on Monday.
“Don’t be afraid because we are ready for this journey. We shall go to retreat and unveil our candidate thereafter,” he added.
NASA has been facing unprecedented uncertainty with both Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi’s allies piling pressure on them to be on ballot.
