President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga are set to share podium for the second time in as many months in Nyamira later on this week.
With over 800, 000 votes at stake, Uhuru will traverse both Kisii and Nyamira Counties on Thursday, three days before sharing platform at Gesima ward, Nyamira County.
Already, Nyamira Jubilee governorship loser Walter Nyambati confirmed the attendance of Uhuru is a funeral to Nyamira Women Representative Jerusha Momanyi’s father- in – law to be held on Sunday.
And Governor John Nyagarama’s communication team has issued a notice that indicates the Ex- Prime Minister’s busy itinerary on Sunday in the region.
While Odinga’s visit could be a plan to counter Uhuru’s influence in the region, the president will be keen to fight troubles facing him due to spat with Chief Justice David Maraga.
Protests marred the region last month following Uhuru’s open attacks on Maraga, who is apparently the senior most public servants from the region.
In August elections, even though Uhuru lost significantly to Odinga, he however managed to put a master class performance compared to 2013 polls, by slightly winning Nyamira County with 52 percent.
