In a tweet on the alliance handle Monday, Lone said that Odinga's decision to join Kenyatta in the push for national cohesion was advised by his desire for a united nation, adding that he will call it off anytime should it fail to achieve its intended purpose.

According to Lone, Odinga is aware that the agreement can either suceed of fail and is, therefore, prepared for whatever outcome.

''Raila will continue fighting for the goals his base ardently seeks. He is not naive enough to believe that success is guaranteed, and will of course immediately call it off if it is not yielding results,'' he said.

He went ahead to hail the veteran politician, terming him as a steadfast individual who has always stood up for the nation.

Lone named Odinga as one of the few African leaders who have suffered to uphold the rights of the underprivileged and excluded.

''He never succumbed, and he was not about to do so in the twilight of a distinguished political career which few African presidents can rival. In fact he has paid a terrible price for his commitment to fight for Kenya’s most deprived and discarded,'' said Lone in a separate tweet.
