The war of words between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho could persist after ODM party announced its intention to hold a major rally at Tononoka grounds on Sunday.

A furious Kenyatta ordered police officers to block Joho from attending a function at Mtongwe, an incident which sparked fiery debate between the government and opposition supporters.

With Joho embarking on a one week coastal tour to discredit Jubilee administration, he will be joined on Sunday by opposition leader Raila Odinga who has been out of the country.

“The ODM party will hold a major political rally at Tononoka ground son Sunday. Party leader Raila Odinga will be attending,” said ODM Chief Executive Oduor Ongwen.

Even though he has maintained his innocence in drug trafficking claims, the ODM deputy leader is also under probe by KRA over his tax returns.

“They are free to investigate but all they should know it that I cannot join Jubilee. I am in ODM to stay,’ he told Lamu residents on Sunday.

It is also in public domain that Mr. Joho will be running for presidency in 2022, a battle that could also feature DP William Ruto and Baringo senator Gidion Moi.
