Oburu Oginga, the eldest brother to ODM leader Raila Odinga, will not run or get an appointment to any political office in this year’s elections.
On Sunday, a section of media reports linked him to an appointment to EALA, claims which he has since dismissed.
And the former Bondo MP is believed to have been prevailed upon by his younger brother to retire from politics and divert his energy in supporting Odinga’s presidential bid.
“He has retired from politics and will only concentrate in rallying for Raila’s presidential bid,” said a source privy to Orange House politics.
To clear the air, ODM secretary General Agnes Zani has distanced herself from the letter that linked Oburu to an appointment to EALA.
“The letter didn’t originate from my office and it has nothing to do with ODM. It could be a wider scheme of our competitors to feed Kenyans with wrong information,” she said in a statement.
During the ODM primaries, Oburu was reported to have been issued with Bondo parliamentary ticket even after losing to Gideon Ochanda but later on dismissed the claims.
