Opposition leader Raila Odinga is set to tour Samburu and Marsabit counties, regions that overwhelmingly voted for President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013.
Although he is yet to be unveiled as NASA flag bearer, Odinga is keen to sway the votes from the two regions, which were recently earmarked as tossups by Jubilee strategist.
As part of strategy to woo the marginalized communities, the ODM leader is set to meet local leaders on Wednesday and Thursday before addressing several rallies across the counties.
“The ODM crew will tour Samburu County on Wednesday and hold several rallies. On Thursday, Marsabit County will be on the itinerary of the party leader,” read a statement by Oduor Ongwen.
“It will be purely an ODM activity and we shall reach all other marginalized areas,” added the statement, an indication that the activities won’t involve other NASA leaders.
The ODM party will kick off its internal elections on Thursday which will see nomination exercises in a number of counties among them Machakos.
Aspirants have also been warned against engaging in chaos, with Mr. Ongwen threatening expulsion of such members in the much awaited exercise.
