Opposition leader Raila Odinga claims a number of IEBC commissioners have had their security withdrawn over unknown reasons.
His claims comes at a time the commission is undergoing unprecedented challenges following internal feuds that could sabotage preparations of October elections.
At Machakos on Friday, Odinga warned President Uhuru Kenyatta over ‘threatening’ commissioners adding that he will not tolerate it.
“I am told a number of IEBC commissioners including Wafula Chebukati have had their security withdrawn.
“Threatening commissioners won’t work and I will not tolerate it. Allow Kenyans to have free and fair elections and that I what we want as a county. Reinstate their security unconditionally.” Odinga said.
However, it is not clear whether Odinga’s claims are true since none of the commissioner has launched a complaint.
A secret memo allegedly from Chebukati to commission’s CEO Ezra Chiloba has thrown the commission into a limbo given the number of questions he demands answers over August 8 elections.
