ODM leader and opposition presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga is set to unveil his campaigns on June 3, two days after his main challenger president Uhuru Kenyatta launches his reelection bid.
Already, Mr Odinga has selected a powerful campaign team that will be headed by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, who is expected to take a powerful position of Premier Cabinet Secretary should Odinga win.
Norman Magaya, a former head of secretariat in the defunct Cord, will be the overall Campaign’s Executive Director.
Also influential in the campaign team are Nairobi businessman Jimmy Wanjigi who will be in charge of Resource Mobilization while economist David Ndii will support him.
In total, at least 500 people comprising of youths will take charge and will be based in counties which will be supervised by influential NASA governors.
Evans Kidero will chair the Nairobi team while his Mombasa counterpart Hassan Ali will take charge of the coastal team, a region perceived to be Odinga’s stronghold.
Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana will be in charge of Ukambani while Ahmed Abudulahi will take charge of North Eastern region.
Others in the team are Wycliffe Oparanya (Western), James Ongwae (Kisii), Josphat Nano (North Rift), Isaac Ruto (South Rift) and Prof Anyang Nyong’o for Luo Nyanza.
