Opposition leader Raila Odinga now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to voluntarily bolt out of presidential elections in August to avoid an embarrassing defeat.
Odinga, who will try his fourth and last stab at presidency, is scheduled to launch his campaigns in Kakamega on June 3 this year.
And during his Thursday’s tour to DP William Ruto’s home turf in Baringo, Odinga accused Uhuru of failing to handle insecurity issues in the region.
“It’s sad that someone is going around the country asking for another term. He has failed to restore security in Baringo but only concentrates on attacking the opposition.
“He has been giving empty promises such us laptops for our children and I think it’s high time he quit politics to avoid an inevitable defeat,” said Odinga.
Also, the veteran politician questioned the integrity of army officers whom eh accused of ‘doing’ nothing to bring cattle rustlers into books despite being deployed in the region.
Recently, an opinion poll done by the Star newspaper indicated that Odinga was gaining ground in Rift Valley, a region believed to be Jubilee stronghold.
